Many new ways and channels of communication are emerging along with the integration of media. Engaging the world from campus, the University of Macau’s (UM) Communications Office (CO) has launched the Media Integration Training Platform for Students, which provides opportunities for students in integrated communication, copywriting, video production, and event organisation. It is a place for students to explore the field of communication, to innovate, and to realise their full potential.

Ample hands-on opportunities in communication
The Media Integration Training Platform for Students offers well-structured training programmes, including the UM Reporter Programme and the UM PR Student Ambassadors Programme. In the two programmes, students can gain experience in news writing, interviewing and editing, photo and video taking, multimedia production, guided tours, and event organisation.
A wide range of communication channels for a global audience
CO has created channels on 14 social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, WeChat and Weibo. Works submitted through the regular channels of Media Integration Training Platform for Students will have a chance to be published by UM’s official communication platforms or media.
Professional guidance
Students will receive professional guidance from UM and external media consultants, including respected media practitioners, opinion leaders, experts and scholars.
Professional facilities
The platform provides various facilities for students, such as studios, discussion spaces, recording studios, cameras, and video recording equipment.
UM Reporter Programme
The UM Reporter Programme is one of the key initiatives of the Media Integration Training Platform for Students. Launched in 2012 by the Communications Office of UM, the UM Reporter Programme has reached its tenth year in 2022. Over the years, the programme has trained a total of 360 UM Reporters. With its members divided into groups of writing reporters, photo reporters, video reporters, and short video reporters, the UM Reporter Programme aims to provide a platform for students who are interested in interviewing, writing, and multimedia filming to enhance their skills. Through a series of professional training in reporting, news writing, and filming, students can help their potential and enhance their knowledge and practical skills in news reporting.
UM PR Student Ambassadors Programme
The UM PR Student Ambassadors (PRSA) Programme is one of the key initiatives of the Media Integration Training Platform for Students: Launched in 2010, the PRSA Programme has provided training for more than 500 student ambassadors to develop their skills in guest reception, public relations, event organisation, and interpersonal communication.
Internship referral programme in partnership with industry
CO has established an internship referral system with industry. Outstanding members of the UM Reporter Programme and the UM PRSA Programme have the opportunity to be referred to professional organisations for internships. This initiative aims to enhance students’ practical experience and strengthen their resumes.
Internship programme in partnership with faculties
In partnership with faculties, research institutes, residential colleges and other academic support and administrative units, CO offers this internship programme to provide students with the opportunity to explore the connection between their academic studies and practical operation, as well as deepen their understanding of innovative communications. Regular Channels for Submissions
CO invites all members of UM faculties members and students to submit their works about specific topics of the university. They may include articles, photos, videos and e-cards. Submitted works will have a chance to be published by CO in its social media channels and UMTV. Link to the submission requirements.
