Advancing Phase Two of the Industry-Academia Collaboration Demonstration Base UM is progressing with the construction of the Hengqin University of Macau Advanced Research Institute (HUMRI), which represents the second phase of UM’s industry-academia collaboration demonstration base in Hengqin. This institute, along with the new campus in the Cooperation Zone, will establish platforms for the transfer of research and innovation results to help develop a transfer ecosystem in the Cooperation Zone. Additionally, to promote discipline integration, HUMRI will establish an entity that focuses on fostering the integration of medicine and engineering, microelectronics and engineering technology, artificial intelligence and robotics technology, as well as the incorporation of the Internet of Things technologies into smart grids and intelligent manufacturing sectors. According to Rector Song, the establishment of the new campus and HUMRI in the Cooperation Zone will significantly enhance UM’s capacity to develop interdisciplinary talent, original innovations, and core technologies. These initiatives will also enable UM to strengthen collaborations with mainland universities and research institutions in high-level innovative research and technological development, thereby accelerating the transfer of research and innovation results. Keeping up the Momentum Ten years ago, UM relocated to Hengqin, marking the beginning of a period of unprecedented developments. A decade later, the university is seizing opportunities again—it will craft a new development blueprint in the Cooperation Zone. Rector Song says, ‘UM will continue to progress. With firm roots in Macao, it will continue to position itself as a university committed to participating in the development of the Greater Bay Area, integrating with national development and going global. Through quality student-centred education, impactful research in key subjects, and superior community services, UM aspires to become an internationally recognised university of excellence.’ 緊握澳琴一體新機遇 • SEIZING NEW OPPORTUNITIES FROM MACAO-HENGQIN INTEGRATION
