In 2014, the University of Macau (UM) established the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering (IAPME), which is the only institute in Macao dedicated to exploring new forms of energy, electro-optical conversion, and advanced materials and technologies, with the aim of helping to resolve the global energy crisis.
