未來藍圖與展望 Blueprint and Vision for the Future | 32 Guided by the spirit of ‘Strive Forward and Achieve Beyond’, the University of Macau (UM) is embracing new historic opportunities for development as it celebrates its 45th anniversary. Building on its academic strengths, the university is expanding into the Guangdong‑Macao In‑Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to deliver international higher education with Macao characteristics. Aligned with the national development blueprint, UM remains resolute in its mission and is determined to seize this pivotal moment to contribute to the needs of the country, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Macao SAR. Through the synergy between its two campuses, UM aims to establish a new model of coordinated development, continuously enhance educational quality, and set a pioneering example of integration between Macao and Hengqin. UM is committed to its vision of becoming an internationally recognised university of excellence. It will continue to advance internationalisation and interdisciplinary integration, nurturing outstanding graduates with global perspectives and strong competitiveness. The university will further optimise its research layout and launch high-quality research, innovation, and industry‑academia collaboration initiatives to help build a Macao-Hengqin innovation ecosystem. As an open and globally engaged institution, UM will draw on its extensive international network to attract world-class scholars and talent, enriching Macao and Hengqin with leading science and technology innovation expertise. Building on these efforts, UM aims to develop a more comprehensive academic system, expand its scale, and enhance its overall capability and impact. With optimism and confidence, we look to the future as UM continues to grow and excel in its pursuit of excellence. In alignment with the development plans of the country and the Macao SAR, UM is adopting a proactive and forward-looking approach in formulating its Five‑Year Development Plan (Academic Years 2026/27–2030/31) this year. This plan will serve as a clear blueprint and actionable roadmap for the university over the next five years. Guided by a commitment to excellence and innovation, UM will actively contribute to Macao’s vision of becoming a hub for international high-calibre talent and promoting economic diversification. At the same time, the university takes pride in playing an active role in writing a new chapter in the successful practice of the ‘one country, two systems’ policy with Macao characteristics, and in advancing the national goal of building China into a global leader in education, scientific self-reliance, and Chinese-style modernisation. 興建中的澳大合作區校區將增設醫學院、 信息學院、工學院和設計學院。 新校區建築面積約83萬平方米,將容納 學生人數約10,000人。 UM’s new campus in the Cooperation Zone, which is currently under construction, will include four new faculties: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Information Science and Computing, Faculty of Engineering, and Faculty of Design. With a building area of 830,000 square metres, the new campus will be able to accommodate 10,000 students.
